Dan Jenkins was born in Ithaca, New York in 1960. He graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor of arts degree. His earliest art lessons were given by his mother and oldest sister Andrea, a professional artist and author. Largely self taught, he lives in Pittsburgh with his youngest daughter. He is the founder of an arts group called "Us" that focuses on painters and writers dedicated to improving their lives through creative endeavors. Dan is the unpublished author of many poems and other writings, some of which are shared on this website. He works at Carnegie Mellon University where he develops research partnerships in technology and the digital arts. Major inspirations include Van Gogh, other Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, as well as a number of 20th-century Surrealists. His favorite museums are the Musee d'Orsay in Paris and MoMA in New York City. Dan's core belief about artists is: "An artist is a person who cannot prevent the creation of their own art."
